c'est moi

HI. Welcome to my humble blog. I will not put you through a lengthy description of my nineteen years, but I will give you a quick run down of the ingredients that cook up a delightful dish of me and a few "fun" facts that are good to know.

ma familia.

First things first. My name is Katelyn EYRE as in AIR not Eye-er or Eye-ree or however else people choose to butcher my name. I will respond to Eery though. Simply because I am continually amazed that is even a variation.

The family. The most eternal of all our earthly trials... and blessings. I grew up in Richfield, Utah, a podunk town of a whopping 7500 in central Utah. Your pity has been duly noted.  I have three little brothers as seen to your left. Keaton (the smiley one) at age 16, Kellan age 12 and Konner age 8. They are my pride and joy. I was raised by two smoking hot and very much in love parents, Dale and Kalene Eyre.

I am now studying at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah to be an accountant. Chat me about it sometime. Riveting conversation.

On a more interesting note, below are a few of the things that set me apart from the 7,165,820,700 people on earth.

my obsessions.

What would I be without my favorite crazes? Here are a few of the many wonderful things I fancy.

Henry Cavill | The Love of My Life

This fine specimen tops the list for good reason.

Background: once upon a trend ago, Twilight was the hit of the teen fantasy world. I too found myself a part of that idée fixe, and became entirely caught up in the casting for the movie. Everyone had an opinion, but Steph and I knew who the real  Edward Cullen was. Henry William Dalgliesh Cavill. Indeed, he was Meyer's first choice. But instead of choosing the manliest of men, they gave it to Pattycakes. My 8 year old brother is more masculine than him. Ranting aside, I loved him for six longs years waiting for him to make his big break. Now that Man of Steel has shed some limelight on one of America's hidden talents, I can openly and passionately share my love for him.

Antique Shops - the heart and soul of our nation. So much rich history, so many songs unsung, so many tenders memories stacked precariously on each other for me to discover. It's like stepping into another era, another life. Plus, people are weird. So their junk is even weirder, and therefore more entertaining. Give it a try sometime.

Hiking. Some of my favorites:

  • Silver Lake Trail
  • Elephant Rock
  • Stewart Falls
  • Timpanogos Loop

Herbal Tea. HT has been there for me through many colds and even colder weather.

Bubble baths. Good for the soul.

Jelly fish. It has been my dream to have a pet jellyfish ever since I watched 7 Pounds for the first time. Spoiler alert: I will not be using it for the same purpose. DO NOT Google that unless you enjoy ruining the ending of a spectacular movie. And of course, I couldn't live with myself if one wasn't named Squishy.

my quirks.

Capitalization. I loathe it. I occasionally refuse to acknowledge it. If I had the power to eliminate all capitalization from the English language, I wouldn't hesitate. I would also eliminate all variations of you're/your and they're/there/their, but that is a rant for another day.

Speaking of ranting, I do it a lot. I have considered creating a separate page just to house all my various rants. I pride myself on my rants, so if you're anti-rant I would skip the rest of my blog.

my pet peeve.

When hotels don't have convenient outlets. It's the 21st century people. We've had electricity for 200 years, so you would think they'd consider that when building my home away from home. NO, in fact, I do not want to have to physically move the entire dresser, do a back bend, dislocate my arm, lose a few fingers and sell my soul to the devil to plug in my charger. Who could have guessed?
